Changing Attitudes

It seems that attitudes are changing towards CCJ’s, the court rooms are full of people who have failed to pay fines or tickets and 80% of the time they don’t even turn up to the hearing. This change in mind-set has sparked an increase in CCJ’s being dished out by judges, the first time in 14 years.

The primary reason for this is the get tough, zero tolerance stance the DVLA are taking, around 18,000 cases a month for failing to pay road tax. Despite this there is a large rise in CCJ’s resulting from bad debt, a plain indication that the economic growth we saw boom in the Nineties is starting to slow down.

Bad Debt and CCJ’s tend to go hand in hand, but once you have a CCJ it is hard to get a loan to consolidate the debt, even if you do get offered credit the interests paid on it could be astronomical plunging you into even more debt.
