Debt management ‘wiser than moonlighting’

Effective debt management may be a wiser option than taking on a second job, it has been suggested.
David Kuo, head of personal finance at Fool.co.uk, advises Britons to budget, rather than try to earn extra money on top of their day job.
His comments come as research from the finance site reveals almost half (47 per cent) of moonlighters took their secondary employment purely for the money.
“Instead of moonlighting, it can be more productive to examine the way that we live our lives,” Mr Kuo argues.
“Revisiting our budgets is a good way to identify savings that will allow us to improve our wealth without working extra hours.”
In this way, the legal and ethical minefield of whether to inform your primary employer may be avoided, he notes.
A recent study by the website found that the average Briton is seven years and seven months away from clearing their debt.
