Annual travel insurance ‘cheaper than single-trip cover’

Holidaymakers who go abroad a number of times a year could find annual cover an effective means of avoiding debt due to travel insurance costs, it has been suggested.
David Bruce, spokesperson for Halifax Travel Insurance, asserts that annual cover is more affordable than taking out multiple single-trip policies - and sometimes cheaper than single-trip cover for a one-off holiday.
“The annual policies are very popular now and ours starts from just £30 per year,” he states.
“They are proving to be very popular and the annual policies are sometimes even cheaper than the single-trip policies.”
He adds that travel insurance is an increasingly common way of avoiding incurring debt due to medical costs when abroad, as the E111 form is no longer in use.
The Association of British Insurers advises that other debt which may be avoided using travel insurance could include expenses due to delayed flights or lost passports.
