T’is the season to spend loads of money, sha la la la la, la la la la. Is this the real reason for Christmas? Have we totally commercialised the biggest religious holiday on the planet, well maybe with a little help from our friends across the pond! We spend 100’s of millions of pounds on presents, going out, holidays and entertaining over the festive season, and this is fuelled by advertising gone mad in the build up to the celebrations.
How do we fund the crazy consumer spending, well put it on your newly acquired credit card, with interest free for 6 months, but do you pay it off in the first 6 months, more often then not, no. Before you know it the little extra you spent on presents has now accrued interest, and is costing you 30% more then anticipated. The minimum monthly payments are unmanageable, and your getting final demand letters from the credit card companies.
